Job Description

Western Forest Products is looking for a Process Analyst to join our team at our Campbell River Office, in Campbell River B.C.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the GM, Process Assurance, this position is responsible for analyzing and improving business processes across the Timberlands group. This includes working closely with Operations and Fibre Supply staff to review key processes; developing recommendations for streamlining and standardizing; and guiding the resulting business change to improve efficiency and reduce costs.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with Timberlands leaders and subject matter experts, develop and maintain a prioritized roadmap of critical process improvement opportunities; recommend a schedule of projects; update the schedule as new opportunities surface and priorities change;
  • Prior to initiating process improvement projects, complete project charters for review and approval using the standard Western template; 
  • Work “hands on” with stakeholders to understand business objectives of key processes; identify core components of processes, foundational for standardization across operations and for the creation of standardized work;
  • Identify key workflow data for existing processes; design and implement effective data collection practices to support workflow analysis. Use data collected to model current workflows; use analysis techniques to redesign and streamline workflows and to support process change recommendations;
  • Identify and address issues and risks in process redesigns; ensure administrative work and information flow, align with and complement physical work flow;
  • Build process maps to describe complex processes; develop clear, concise standard operating procedures to document detailed, repeatable components of processes; ensure processes and standard operating procedures apply across operations;
  • Review unexpected process events; lead root cause investigations; develop and support implementation of change recommendations;
  • Determine measuring points in processes; develop key metrics for process review and for on-going performance monitoring; review results of new process implementations relative to specific, predicted outcomes; revisit process design as required;
  • Apply business efficiency concepts (Lean) to recognize duplication and waste in processes; look for opportunities to reduce decision points; redesign processes to simplify and eliminate waste;
  • Determine key competencies required, consistent with developed standard operating procedures, to ensure new or revised processes flow as intended; work with subject matter experts to develop and facilitate required training to ensure competency;
  • Research and recommend technology solutions to streamline business processes;
  • Lead change with government agencies and industry stakeholders to eliminate waste in regulatory processes detractive to Western’s business.

Job Requirements



QUALIFICATIONS 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years of experience in Process Improvement including Lean Six Sigma methodology implementation;
  • Post-secondary degree in an Applied Science and training in business management are assets;
  • Experience in leading cross functional teams;
  • Proven experience in project planning and implementation.

  • Ability to motivate and engage staff to perform at a higher standard.
