Job Description

Western Forest Products is currently seeking a Field Planner to join our Central Island Forest Operation (Englewood Location).  This role will be based out of the Menzies Bay office, 15 minutes north of Campbell River, but will require field work in Woss, B.C.

This position is responsible for planning, contractor supervision and quality control of engineering projects.

Reporting to the Operations Planner, this highly motivated and physically capable individual will be an integral part of the planning team and assist in the following key functions:

  • Support a culture of safety leadership and promotes a respectful workplace
  • Participate in a team environment that shares information, welcomes creativity, and challenges the status quo
  • Provide professional layout in the field and develop sound operational plans
  • Responsible for engineering planning as they relate to the engineering, road construction plans.
  • Prepare and peer review the various plans and assessments associated with cutblock development including:
    • Site Plans; Harvest, Road, Silviculture and Deactivation Instructions; Cutting and Road Permit submissions and harvest plans.
  • Assist with road and cutblock layout and the associated harvesting plans
  • Ensure consistency of the planning process with higher level requirements, government legislation, and CSA certification plans
  • Organize and supervise various planning and engineering consultants
  • Experience in using MS Office Suite, Road Eng, Cenfor, ArcView, Forest Ops, and GPS is an asset.

Job Requirements
